MACPU-MQA

The past Saturday and Sunday was MAPCU-MQA Eduation Fair 2010, held in MidValley exhibition centre. This education fair was also an annual education fair held after the STAR education fair, with the intention of helping those students who couldn't make it for the STAR that time and for those who would like to visit such college/university booths again to make up their mind on where to study.

The fair was held on both days as mentioned, from 12pm till 6pm. there were quite a number of people enquiring into Pre university studies from KDU too as usual :)

All That Glitters...

Well, 2 main things happened within the span of 1 1/2 weeks this month, both having a "glitter" theme to it (somehow).

The first was a "STAR"RY affair at KLCC on the 9th and 10th of January - the STAR Education Fair.
KDU College were one of the many colleges and universities that had a booth at the fair, with CPUS being at the "front"line of the booth.
KDU had CPUS at the front this time while the other departments were located specifically at the side. Not only marketing staffs and student helpers were ther ti help during that 2 days, even us lecturers were needed to help with counseling at the booth too!
And boy, was there many people at the fair!! So much I didn't have time to snap some pictures to show it here (too busy helping with the counseling as well).

Miss Hema counseling :p

The second "starry" affair was the UNSW Graduation Day that was held about a week later, on Friday the 15th. Held at LHE room , the joyous occasion was celebrated along with the parents, relatives, friends and the lecturer of the students themselves. These students were from the UNSW Foundation Year programme of the year 2009 intake.

Ooi Jia Ying and her mother/lecturer Miss Loh Chooi Lay

For 2009, the best overall student for went to none other than Ooi Jia Ying, who scored an 8.7 in her grades. Well Done Miss Ooi!! :)

For your information, ladies and gents, Miss Ooi is now planning to pursue a degree in veterinary medicine as she wants to be a Dr. Doolittle :p - best of luck there!

CPUS Charity Day

Firstly, a Happy New Year to all!!! :)
2010 is now upon us, with 2009 being leaving behind some good memories of what happened in CPUS.

Well, the first few post did mention some, and this is the last of them. WHY LAST?
It is because we are now in 2010, and we are looking forward to what's in store for us :)

Nevertheless, as everyone should know, from history we learn of experience and whatever that is needed to pursue what we will in the coming days.

So... We end the reminiscing walk with the Charity Day done by the pre-university students.

The Charity Day was done on the 25th November 2009, about a week after both the A'levels examinations and UNSW exams. This gave the students enough opportunity and time to plan and execute their charity work.

Prelude to the charity day, the PreU students (that's what the students are known as) organized a charity drive in the college to encourage all students and staffs to donate. Performances by the students like singing and dancing were done from about 10am till 1pm in the cafeteria, while a charity-driven car wash activity was held on the open parking lot of the college.

The pre university students did a charity on the orphanage known as Yayasan Sunbeams Homes in Cheras on that day. With donations from the days before, the PreU kids and a few lecturers (as well as Miss Ong) took 2 buses( YES, there were that many of them going :p )to the orphanage at about 11am.

Donated items

Peace out!!!

Tired lecturers (In the morning?!?!)

Reaching there at about noon, the students got down to "business". They began unloading the donated items - boxes of consumables, clothings, packed lunches - to the homes, which actually consisted of 3 houses (2 cornered double storey houses, 1 middle lot). As there were many students visiting the orphanage, we (meaning the lecturers :p) decided that all (students and orphans of the Home)would head to the nearest football field nearby for lunch and further activities.

Very hot!!!(see the girl's expression?)

We're here now.... Where are the kids?

Food delivery!!!

One of the 3 houses (Another is right behind)

At the field, lunches were done with the kids of the Home (see above). Some of the students (and a lecturer ) decided to play football with the few older kids. After lunch, activities were done with the Sunbeam kids along with the PreU students.
It ended about 3pm, when the KDU buses came back to pick the students and lecturers back.

Mortal Kombat!!!

Fight!!!

Smell my hair, boy. It's very nice. DKNY.

Hee hee hee.. *giggles more* hee hee hee..

Dude. You're doing your MJ dance on the wrong person lar...

The charity day was an eye opener for some of the students, who till now, have not done mauch charity work. Seeing the orphans too made the students humble and thankful for what they have.
